Swarming is a natural reproductive process of a bee colony as a superorganism. At one moment tens of thousands of bees can leave the place they have called home and move on to a new location. Sometimes that could be in your shed or soffit or any small space bees might want to build a new home. For us in SW Florida, we have a few times a year that could be considered swarm season. We can place a loaded swarm trap with a lure in it on your property so bees would be more likely to relocate there instead of your home.
Cut Outs
After a bee colony has moved into your home, there are only a few options. The process of going into the place they have decided to nest and physcally removing it is called a cut-out. It usually involves some type of demolition in order to gain full access of the hive. We have over 20 years of construction experience to try and minimize damage to the structure to make repairs as easy and painless as possible.
Trap Outs
Another option after a colony has moved into your home is called a trap-out. This is a less invasive procedure that does not involve the cutting or demolition as a cut-out. A one way trap is installed to prevent bees from returning as they leave the hive to try and force them to abscond. An alternative hive location is offered to them to make that transition easier. While less invasive, the entire process will take considerably longer to complete, often 7-8 weeks.
